Mr. Muhammad Arif holds degrees of MBA from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, UK, LLM in Petroleum Law and Policy from the Centre for Energy, Petroleum & Mineral Law & Policy (CEPMLP), University of Dundee, Scotland, UK, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Petroleum Economics from the University of Oxford, England, UK. He is enrolled as an Advocate High Court by the Punjab Bar Council, Pakistan.
Mr. Arif has published several articles covering Pakistan’s petroleum policies and fiscal systems. He is also main author of Book “Energy Law in Pakistan” published by Wolters Kluwer, Netherlands, and contributed a chapter on Pakistan in book titled “Upstream Law and Regulation” published by Globe Law and Business, UK. He has been a visiting Professor of the International Islamic University, Islamabad teaching Petroleum Laws of Pakistan.
Mr Arif has more than three decades of diversified experience in varying disciplines such as corporate affairs, Joint Ventures affairs, full cycle legal and regulatory compliance of upstream oil and gas industry including over ten years in a very senior management level position primarily responsible for legal, joint ventures, regulatory & commercial contracts, regulation and gas market restructuring.
Mr Arif has worked as Head of Legal, Commercial and Joint Ventures with Ocean Pakistan Limited, Islamabad, Pakistan for over 11 years immediately before starting his independent consultancy in October 2016. Earlier, he worked for Oil and Gas Development Company (national E&P Company of Pakistan) in the commercial, joint ventures, corporate affairs and Petroleum Law Departments. Mr. Arif is also President, Energy Lawyers Association of Pakistan.
